My Youth Girls Have a Message For you (rudie)

"Never wiggle yourself drunk"

And that, my friends, is true wisdom.

We had our youth girls over to watch ANTM, and they left that in our fridge poetry. They left a lot of cool phrases, actually!

Weigh In

Today's Topic: Animal Testing

So, I know that animal testing is Wrong and Bad. We learned about it in social class, about how cosmetic companies were testing on animals, and how they hurt little bunnies, etc. We also learned through time, that this isn't going to go away any time soon and that we should be actively buying products that promote no animal testing (ie. Mary Kay, Body Shop, etc.).

But what about drug testing on animals? What about doing tests that may help treat or cure cancer? What about those kinds of tests? Are they just as Wrong and Bad? What are your thoughts on this?

A Tale of Two Evenings

Posted by Kait at 08:21 AM on October 24, 2006.

Last night I had a Mary Kay facial with a friend from work. She is a beautiful, fully put together lady who scared the crap out of me. We had a challenge to ask at least one person that intimidated us to have an appointment, so I asked her and she said YES! And she was very excited, which was awesome! It was so much fun, we tried out the regular line, and then played with the Holiday stuff after. It was a lot of fun. And the best part? She placed a significant order! I am so pumped! I can't wait to take this to the bank! Did I mention that I love my job?

Tonight, Rob and I are going to a Vacation sales place. Apparently Rob had answered a phone survey for them, and has won something. So we have to go to the store to listen for an hour and then we get our prize (I think it's a gift certificate for a local restaurant), and then we may win a different (larger) prize. So we figure that if we go, we're only out and hour of our time. It's not a big deal, as we would have just been sitting at home watching TV anyway. If we win (there are a bunch of prizes, including $1000 off a stay at an all inclusive, a cruise for two, etc.) then it will definitely be worth our time... and if not, then thats ok too.

So the verdict is in. Our cat's love the Orijen food (Biologically Appropriate Real-food Kibble) better than the other Iam stuff. Bruhaha! The nice thing is that Tych hasn't had a hairball OR thrown up in about two or three weeks since we've been offering it to them. This is pretty amazing, as we usually end up cleaning up at least one mess a week. So, yay!

We slept with the window open again last night. It was just a little chilly, which was really nice. The kind where if you move you get cold, but if you stay in your nice warm cacoon, you're warm and toasty. Rob likes having the window open because Nybbles will sleep with us. She bounced back and forth between us all night, curling up between my legs, then Robs, then mine, then Robs... and so on.

The Oilers won last night - 5 to 2 against Nashville. My boy Sykora got 4 points (1 goal, three assists)! They've been doing awesome, and they've been so much fun to watch (even though I didn't watch yesterday - so I'm not sure if it was Pay Per View or broadcasted).

The Goo Goo Dolls are going to be here on November 7. I must must go. I love them to DEATH!!!

My software never has bugs. It just develops random features.

I am tired. And kind of groggy. Even though I ate breakfast (ps. breakfast hates me. It just makes me hungrier), and I am drinking (decaf) tea and milk. I'm still not on my game.

I am very excited because I have a facial tonight! Well, provided that she doesn't postphone again. But it is going to be fun, as this person is a Mary Kay Virgin. Plus, I've been very lax in my business, so I've got to get back at it! Back! At it!

I have a complaint: Why is it that NO ONE on Desperate Housewives can be happy? Why does everyone have to seem to be on the verge of divorce, trying to get divorced, or someone trying to break them up? Bah. I guess I'm just mad about Todd and Lynette. But I'm sure that I will get over it, and maybe nothing will happen.

I went grocery shopping this weekend. I bought a lot of vegetables. I even cut them all up into little baggies and put them in the fridge for instant snacks. I also got (and made) some turkey sausage and hard boiled eggs for breakfast (and the sausage? Is quite good cold - post cooking, of course). So you'll be happy to know that I'm trying to eat breakfast and trying to eat more than just slimfast (although? I've lost 7 pounds in the last month? Which is not so bad). And I'm wearing my suit again. I wore it about a month ago, and it was really uncomfortable. It's not so bad today! Whoo hoo!

What's with all the spam that I've been getting at work? It's basically "Momentus/Important/Great/Etc. Message. You must read!" And it's all stocks. I've stopped opening them, and I don't even preview them any more! Straight to the garbage. It just seems like since we put in a new spam filter here at work, I've been getting MORE spam. Go figure, eh?

We watched a bunch of The Office (season 2) yesterday. It was quite enjoyable. I usually feel embarrassed for Michael Scott, as he's such a nob. I just can't help it! Maybe he doesn't get it? Anyway, it's FICTION, and therefore I don't need to worry about it, but there you go.

Oh, and that new show, Studio 60? Is fantastic! I quite like it! It has Lorelai from the Gilmore Girls on it, but it's like she's playing herself. I think that the premise is that it's about a production studio that has sketch-type show (SNL-type) and it shows the producers and other actors, etc. Some people are playing themselves and some people are playing parts. It's kind of interesting. Although? I think that Lorelai could have just been on this show, or maybe just every now and then, anyway. I watched it while putting laundry away and changing the bedding.

Speaking of bedding, two night ago, it was sooo cold in our house, so I put on the extra duvet. Last night, I decided to put the covers back on the duvets, so I wouldn't have to actually wash the blankets as much, you know? Anyway, it was so freaking hot last night! How does the temperature change so much? I ended up opening the window to allow in enough cold air that warranted the extra blanket (I like the weight of both of them, plus Rob wasn't too hot, and the cats were both really happy, as they like the padding. I was the only person not happy, and couldn't deny all of them the fun that is the second duvet. So I opened the window). It wasn't too bad, once the room temperature actually dropped.

I washed the car yesterday. We go to Jumbo Car Wash in sherwood park, because they charge by the minute, and you can pay with interac at the end, instead of having to plug quarters. This way you can take your time, and do what you want, instead of thinking "have to use up this looney" or whatever. I have to say, I did a pretty good job! We also bought a bucket for the back to put things like winshield spray and oil and stuff in. It has a lid so it will stay nice and neat. I kind of hate having it back there in general, but we will need to fill up the washer fluid some time soon, and if I end up without any... it really frustrates me. I hate not being able to see. We don't technically need to cart around oil and all that other stuff, as we do have roadside assistance for three years if something happens. Like if we randomly start to dump oil all over the ground. We also bought some wipes (one for the dash, one for the windows) and they both suck. So I'm taking them back.

So here ends your radom spattering of what's new and what's happening up here in the Great White North. Enjoy!
